Time: 15 minutes, plus an hour or so to cool
Serves: 10
Ingredients
- 1 sleeve of Saltine crackers
- 2 sticks butter
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 12oz package of chocolate chips
- Preheat your oven to 400°
- Line a baking sheet with foil and lay your saltine crackers in a single layer. You should have enough to just cover the pan.
- Set a medium-sized pot over medium heat and add your 2 sticks of butter and 1 cup of sugar and stir together as the butter melts.
- Once your butter is melted, turn your burner up to high and let the mixture boil. When it starts boiling, stir constantly for 3 minutes.
- Pour the mixture over your crackers and spread it out so it covers all the crackers.
- Place the pan in the oven and cook for 5-8 minutes, until the butter and sugar turn a caramel color.
- Take the pan out of the oven and evenly sprinkle your chocolate chips on top of the butter and sugar.
- Wait a couple of minutes to let the chocolate chips start to melt, then use a spatula to evenly spread the chocolate out.
- Pop the whole pan in the freezer for 30 minutes or in the fridge for an hour or so. Once it's cooled, break into pieces and serve.
